Pedestrian centre
The remains of the stadium sit below the modern pedestrian streets: a useful place to notice how the contemporary centre occupies the ancient city. Pause here before climbing into the old town. The stadium and the theatre are different monuments, so check the name carefully when saving a map pin.

Central Plovdiv
The late-antique mosaics offer a different encounter with Roman Plovdiv from the theatre. Make this an indoor cultural stop, with time for the floor designs rather than just a photograph at the entrance. Pairing the two sites helps distinguish public entertainment from the religious life of the ancient city.

A note before you go. Start with Roman Theatre, then decide whether Roman Stadium deserves a separate visit rather than rushing both. The suggested days are an editable grouping, not a timed tour. Visit allowances exclude transfers, meals and queues; confirm the exact entrance and current visiting arrangements for Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis before setting off.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF
Taxis and buses are prevalent. The city centre has a large pedestrian zone. The taxi arrives in about 3-5 min. Remember to order the Taxi from the companies that offer the best deals and wait for it. Most of the taxi cars have 4-digit numbers on them, remember some and use it if you need a car, for example: 6155, 6142, 9199 and so on. You can pay cash at the conductor. Easyway website has more information.
Keep Roman Theatre as the anchor for one day and Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis for the other. Check their exact entrances on the map before adding further stops; a town name alone is not a reliable meeting point.
