Sibiu

ASTRA Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization

Huge outdoor collection of traditional farmsteads, waterwheels, mills, labourers’ cottages, churches and so on, picturesquely ranged around a lake in Dumbrava Forest. Pick a fine day, but the circuit track is tarmac so it is okay when wet. Allow 3 hours to stroll round.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF

A more practical kind of plan.

Getting your bearings

A route planner for public transport is available online. Sibiu’s network of trams and trolley-buses was ripped out in the 2010s, just as other cities were expensively re-installing theirs.

Build a route that makes sense

ASTRA Museum of Transylvanian Civilisation and "Franz Binder" World Ethnography Museum are about 0.0 km apart in a straight line. Use the route link to compare the actual streets or transport connections before putting both in the same morning; the measurement is not a walking distance or a transfer estimate.
