Travel inland to Stevenson's former home at Vailima to consider the author's final years in Samoa and the household around him. Give the rooms and grounds their own time rather than treating the house as a starting gate for a mountain climb. Confirm available interpretation and access directly with the museum before travelling.

This reserve adds the marine landscape to a visit otherwise spent among buildings and demonstrations. Discuss tide and conditions with the people managing entry, and choose shore observation if entering the water does not suit the day or your experience. Keep clear of coral and allow time to rinse and change afterwards.
