A note before you go. Treat Glenstal Abbey as a separate regional outing from Limerick. Arrange the outward and return journey before adding another visit on that day. The suggested days are an editable grouping, not a timed tour. Visit allowances exclude transfers, meals and queues; confirm the exact entrance and current visiting arrangements for Glenstal Abbey before setting off.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF

A more practical kind of plan.

Getting your bearings

Walking will get you everywhere in the city centre. Bikes need to be rented weeks in advance. There is only one bike rental shop in town. TFI website has a map of the city bus network. Taxis are required to use the meter, to accept credit and debit cards as well as cash, and not to surcharge any card. Special rate (Sa Su midnight-4AM, 24 Dec 8PM through Christmas to 8AM 26 Dec, 31 Dec 8PM to 8AM 1 Jan): same as Premium rate but after flagfall you go straight to Tariff B, there's no Tariff A.

Build a route that makes sense

Hunt Museum and St Mary's Cathedral are about 0.2 km apart in a straight line. Use the route link to compare the actual streets or transport connections before putting both in the same morning; the measurement is not a walking distance or a transfer estimate.
