Look beyond the first rows of stalls to see the range of businesses sharing the market, from produce sellers to small shops and crafts. The tourism board identifies it as a market with more than a century of history. Browse slowly, ask what is locally made or grown, and avoid obstructing the people doing their ordinary shopping.

Waterfront, Mindelo
The maritime collection connects São Vicente with the occupations and infrastructure shaped by the sea. Interpretation covers fishing-related work, the former coal-supply trade and communications links between continents. Use the objects to look again at the harbour outside, rather than treating the museum building simply as an unusual waterfront photograph.

Urban coast of Mindelo
Laginha brings the city directly to the sand and offers a useful break after the compact centre. Choose a stretch for a shoreline walk, watching how the bay and surrounding slopes frame Mindelo. Access to any commercial facilities should be confirmed separately; the editorial allowance is for time on the coast, not a booked watersports activity.

A note before you go. Keep the municipal market and waterfront museum together, then make Laginha a separate coastal block. Confirm museum visitor access before arranging the day, especially if exhibitions or buildings are being refurbished.
